Digital Rights and Challenges For Print Media

Digital Rights is under scrutiny. California consumers have filed a suit in a Los Angeles Supreme Court to stop Sony BMG from selling any additional CD's protected by anti-piracy software. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this case and the financial awards that may be given out.

A new trend is emerging in that the big electronic giants- IBM, Sony and Philips- have joined forces to distribute Linux patents royalty-free.

The digital media is making advances by leaps and bounds into what is considered the stronghold of the print media. Even the mainstream news papers are facing a decline in their paid circulation. Mainstream newspapers are offering an online version of their paper in order to counter this trend. This also means that customers are hungry for instant information. Politics and social changes are influenced by the speed and quality of the content that is provided in the digital medium, often free.
